SWFL SpaceCon And a New Game!

XPFeature
Enter Space Log, Star date 170129: Well my best bud Jaime of Nahual Studios found and has purchased a booth at the very first SWFL SpaceCon to show off a game he has been working on for quite a while now. He's already made quite a few games already, but I think he aims to have this be the biggest one yet! It would be ill mannered of me not to promote friendly competition, so I signed up for a booth right next to his! Now I have till June 10th to make a video game to present! I have been wo...

Learning Autodesk Maya

ComicFeature
To be quite honest, overcoming the hurtle to just jump in and learn Maya was by far the hardest so far. I think I have taken well to learning the basics of 3d modeling within Maya. Of course, I've only done a week's worth, but it has been a great learning curve. Don't fool yourself into thinking you can't or shouldn't learn a new skill, it's a blast, and it overall increased my confidence in coding as well! It'll be more rewarding seeing a REAL implementation of an object LOOK like what I am cod...

Learning C#

I'm finishing a Microsoft edX certification for Intermediate C# and certainly did learn quite a bit! I really want to focus on implementing that knowledge by getting my hands dirty in the code with a few projects to boost my confidence. I decided to really sit down and accomplish two things: Create a great video game demo in Unity3d, and to write a fully independent application using C# within Visual Studio. thankfully, I can experiment with C# inside Unity as well as become motivated to pract...

Working on Your First Game!

It's a nightmare and scary and omg I have failed more times than I like. BUT I LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT. I have worked on NUMEROUS game dev tutorials and unfortunately quite a few games I started on my own. It seemed like with each of the games I tried to make on my own, I had the vision, the basic programming knowledge or at least where to find the answer, and even a good floor plan with what I wanted to do in small attainable goals.  I got as far as the first level programmed before I would bur...

Loving Unity!!

XPFeature
STATUS UPDATE!  I've been using Unity for a while now and love it! I prefer C sharp for it is a strongly typed language, but if you're into Javascript, checking out codecademy is a MUST! If you want to learn more about C#, Ed2Go has two online classes. I've taken the beginner certification course and learned quite a bit more than I thought! Not as much opportunity to talk with your course mates. If you want to get your hands dirty with Unity, try downloading the v4.6 and buying Goldstone's Unity...
